Agreement

These terms govern your use of Canonhouse, a writing studio for books and worldbuilding. By creating an account, signing in, or using the service, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy.

If you use Canonhouse on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes that organization.

The service

Canonhouse lets an organization keep manuscripts (chapters and pages) and an org-wide wiki, then move edits through drafts, reviews, and comments. Sign-in is Google or an emailed magic link. Admins can create an unlisted read-only link to a published book.

The product is in development. Features, availability, and these terms will change. We do not currently sell a paid plan, offer AI writing help, or run a public storefront. We do not promise any particular uptime or that a feature will stay in its current form.

Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the service. You must provide a valid email address you control (or a Google account) and keep access to it safe. You are responsible for activity under your account.

We may refuse, suspend, or close an account if we believe these terms have been broken or the service is at risk.

Organizations and roles

Books and wiki entries belong to an organization, not to a lone user record. Every account gets a personal organization on first sign-in. You may create or join others.

Roles (owner, admin, editor, viewer) control who can write, review, manage members, and create share links. If you invite someone, you are responsible for inviting the right person and for the role you assign.

Content in a shared organization is visible to that organization’s members according to their roles. Do not put work in an organization unless you are willing for those members to see it.

Your content

You and your organization own the writing you put into Canonhouse — manuscripts, wiki entries, drafts, comments, and similar material. We do not claim copyright in your stories or lore.

You grant the operator of Canonhouse a limited license to host, store, back up, display, and transmit that content solely to run the service (including showing it to members of your organization and to people who open a share link you create).

You represent that you have the rights needed to upload the content and to grant that license, and that the content does not violate law or someone else’s rights.

Share links

An unlisted share link is a secret URL. Anyone who has the token can read that book’s published pages without signing in. The link is not a public listing and is not meant for search engines, but it is not password-protected beyond the token.

If you create or circulate a share link, you are responsible for who receives it. Delete the link in the studio to revoke access; that issues a new token if you create the link again.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, infringe others’ rights, harass people, distribute malware, or upload content you do not have the right to share.

Do not try to access another organization’s data, guess or share share-link tokens you were not given, scrape the service in a way that burdens it, or interfere with security or access controls.

Do not use Canonhouse to send spam. Invitation email is for people you intend to collaborate with.

Third-party services

Sign-in and email depend on Google and Resend. Hosting and the database depend on Vercel and Neon. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their processing. An outage or change at a provider can affect Canonhouse.

Availability and warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We make no warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that Canonhouse will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your content will never be lost. Keep your own copies of work that matters to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of Canonhouse is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost writing, arising from your use of the service.

If we are found liable for a claim related to the service, our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim — which is currently zero, because there is no paid plan.

Termination

You may stop using the service at any time. You can delete books, pages, wiki entries, and share links yourself, subject to your role.

Account deletion and organization deletion are not self-serve yet. Ask on the contact page if you want an account or organization removed.

We may suspend or end access if you break these terms, if we discontinue the product, or if we must do so to protect the service or other users. After termination, we may delete content on ordinary schedules. The license you granted lasts only as long as we need it to operate or wind down the service.

Changes, contact, and a plain note

We may change these terms as the product changes, including before we introduce billing. The date at the top of this page is the latest revision. If you continue to use the service after a change, you accept the new terms. Questions: contact us.
